BDC – Devoted to Entrepreneurs
BDC is the only bank in Canada devoted exclusively to entrepreneurs. It supports entrepreneurship with a focus on small and medium-sized businesses, and provides financing and advisory services from 110+ business centres from coast to coast.
BDC also supports entrepreneurs who create certified Beneficial corporations (B Corps), a new kind of company that uses the power of business to create social and environmental benefit. This is a growing global movement that Craig Ryan, Director, Corporate Social Responsibility at BDC, will speak on at the Forum.
BDC is proud to support the 2016 Soul of the Next Economy Forum, and present a talkback with Greg Hemmings, the CEO and founder of Hemmings House Productions, the Media Production Company and B Corp that created The Millennial Dream. They believe that innovative, ambitious entrepreneurs will help create sustainable prosperity and that BDC’s job is to help them succeed.
Black Diamond’s Way is to Find a Better Way (2014-2016 Sponsor)
Black Diamond Group provides workforce accommodation, modular buildings, energy services, and full turnkey lodging and major project solutions including planning and management, logistics, and catering to customers in Canada, the United States and Australia. They serve diverse sectors including oil and gas, mining, power, construction, engineering, military, government, and education.
Black Diamond is committed to maximizing value to shareholders while pledging support to its local communities. This includes sourcing and identifying local suppliers, sub-contractors, vendors and labor in the geographical area of the scope of work. They also partner with the local communities and organizations in which they do business, to develop unique programs to engage communities to aid in creating employment opportunities for local residents.
Black Diamond has been recognized with multiple Aboriginal Business Awards. They seek to “lead strongly, achieving safely” as they aspire to an incident-free workplace – one without injuries, occupational illnesses and unregulated environmental releases from its operations.
Black Diamond Group has been a Community Partner for Soul of the Next Economy Forum since it began in 2014. This goes far beyond just sponsorship. Black Diamond leadership and staff have been involved in program planning, initiating the CSR Roundtable, sitting on Soul Forum panels and promoting the Forum.
While Black Diamond is not a sponsor of the Forum this year, we would still like to recognise their past contributions as they have “been a true partner – engaging on many levels of the Forum and across the Black Diamond organisation. The Soul Forum would not be what it is without them.” says Angie Redecopp, Chair for the Soul of the Next Economy Forum.
